#1092: MM- Nature and Your Mental Health
Is the grass really greener on the other side? It may be if you played on it more! This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young medical minute. Nature can be a powerful thing. It has a way of calming our minds in a stressful world. With depression on the rise in the US, it may be exactly what the population needs. New research out of Aarhus University in Denmark found that people who grew up in close contact with nature were less likely to develop mental health problems in the future. It actually lowered their risk by fifty five percent! So, what are you waiting for? Go for a jog, play in the pool, or break out that dusty tent. Get off of your phone and computer. Get close to nature again! It’s just what the doctor ordered. This Stay Young Medical Minute is brought to you by Executive Medicine of Texas, a leader in preventative and proactive medicine.
